Supporting talented young people has been one of the focuses of the Rapla Rotary Club over the years. A key instrument in this effort has been the humanities scholarship, which has been awarded since 1994. These scholarships have supported studies abroad as well as interesting cultural projects in Estonia.

With the scholarship, the club supports young people up to the age of 30 from Rapla County:

• the development and implementation of humanities and educational projects in Rapla County
• studies in humanities fields at higher education institutions in the Republic of Estonia, as well as studies at universities abroad

Candidates for the scholarship may be nominated by:

• Universities, institutions of professional higher education, and commercial schools in the Republic of Estonia

• Local government bodies, schools, firms, and enterprises in Rapla County

• Scholarship applicants themselves

• Schools in foreign countries

• Rotary Club members

To apply, one must submit an application to the club outlining the intended use of the scholarship. Letters of recommendation, letters of support, and other supplementary documents may be attached to the application. The Rapla Rotary Club reserves the right to request additional information regarding the candidate’s previous studies, projects, and the like, if necessary.

The recipient of the scholarship is determined at a meeting of the Rapla Rotary Club; the scholarship may be divided among several equally qualified candidates. The scholarship may also go unawarded if there are no candidates who meet the required standards. The amount of the scholarship is determined separately each year.
