Environmental Thought Award
BACKGROUND
Environmental issues are becoming increasingly important. For several years now, the Rapla Rotary Club has organized an environmental conference aimed at young people, attracting a growing number of participants. We see that youth climate protests have become an almost daily occurrence elsewhere in the world and even in Tallinn. The environmental situation in Rapla County is relatively good; nevertheless, the effects of the general environmental decline reach us, at least indirectly.
COMPETITON
To foster environmental awareness among young people, the Rapla Rotary Club is once again offering an “Environmental Idea Award,” inviting youth from Rapla County to submit critical or constructive thoughts regarding the state of the environment or ways to improve it.
Who can participate?
Young people from Rapla County aged 15–18 (from the final year of basic school through to the end of upper secondary school), participating either individually or in teams of 2–5 members.
What can be submitted?
Entries may consist of critical or constructive thoughts on the state of the environment or its improvement, presented in the following formats:
- Photo – selfie, landscape, portrait, composition
- Image – drawing, painting, collage, etc.
- Video, podcast, short film, etc. (up to 3 minutes)
- Story, article, poem, etc. (up to two A4 pages)
- Description of an idea (one A4 page)
Who does the judging?
Entries will be evaluated by a jury of 3–4 members appointed by the Rapla Rotary Club.
What is the prize?
The prize fund is €500, which the jury may distribute at its discretion based on the quality of the submissions.
